The name of person / company to which you are paying from your account. Some banks are srtict on identifying the payee and the person may need to show identification proof for withdrawing the amount.

The Amount
The amount is written on the cheque at two places. One in numbers and one in words. This is to prevent any chance of forgery.

Usually this will be automatically available with every cheque because all banks now provides pre-printed cheques with your name and account number. The account number gives the teller the information on which account to use for this particular transaction.

    Hi Srinivas,

When you give cheque to somebody, the person accepting cheque has to sign on back. On otherhand, if it is a self cheque (you use it for your own needs)
you have to sign in the back.

    Hi Sangde,

Nope, Payee do not require to have bank account in same bank. The only thing important is that, the name is exactly same on the account.
