What is Core Banking?

Core banking is the name given to set of services provided by a group of networked bank branches. Through this core banking network, the customers are free to access their funds and other simple transactions from any of the branch offices of the bank.

Core banking is basically depositing and lending of money conducted by a banking institution with its retail and small business costumers. The large businesses in core banking are managed through the Corporate Banking division of the institution while the small businesses are managed through a separate business line. The retail costumers are treated as their core banking customers by many banks.
